The current gas prices where I live in Southern California is at an average price of $4.30 a gallon and is rising quickly by the day. Gas prices go up and then food does as well, so I am trying to cut corners at home as much as possible.  A great way to do this is to incorporate some recipes from the Great Depression era.  The people that lived and survived during this time and their stories are AMAZING!  Depression recipes would also be great to include in your Zombie Apocalypse, TEOTWAWKI, or SHTF plan, as they are simple, cheap and use ingredients that are on hand.
This is one of my favorites, by a 96 year old great grandmother.  She has a book available as well, Clara's Kitchen: Wisdom, Memories, and Recipes from the Great Depression.  Enjoy!
